According to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Benjamin Kalu, members of the National Assembly (NASS) are currently not paid enough to carry out their duties in their various constituencies. He emphasized the difficulties brought about by costs including transportation, upkeep of constituency offices, and assistance for assistants who are entrusted with carrying out the office’s duties. He stressed that talking about its revenues isn’t a productive way to address the current economic crisis, and that the insufficiency of their current remuneration is a serious worry.
