Suspect Claims The 17 Soldiers Were Killed When They Came To Take Away Our Community Leaders

When the cops went to settle a dispute between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State last week, they were assassinated.

The young man who is on the run reportedly accused the government and community leaders of failing to settle the conflict between the Okuama and Okoloba villages before it got out of control, according to the Daily Trust story.

Speaking in a viral video that was seen by Daily Trust, the young man who did not disclose his name alleged that the Ijaw people from Okuama community had used the military and carried some people from Okoloba community and killed them.

He said that the problem started when the military came and wanted to take away some of their community leaders, but the community youths resisted, and in the process, the military men were attacked.

He said, “The Ijaw people from Okuoma community used army to carry three people from Okoloba community and killed them. The three people were all slaughtered.”

Speaking further, he said, “The 17 soldiers were killed when they came to take away our community leaders, and the youths knew that when they take them (the community leaders) away, they will be powerless. That was the reason the 17 soldiers were attacked.”

He added that his father was a retired army officer who died last year, and that he had lost six of his people to the crisis between Okuoma and Okoloba communities. He said that the federal government can declare him wanted after this.

The military had disclosed that some persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of the soldiers in Okuama, while the search is still ongoing for the others who are now on the run. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
