The statement revealed that the government’s legal team expects to receive the certified true copies of the judgments by Friday, March 7, 2025. Upon receipt, the rulings will be carefully reviewed and implemented accordingly.
In response to the Supreme Court’s position on caretaker arrangements for local government councils, the state government has taken immediate steps to comply. The governor directed the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to assume control of the 23 local government councils pending the organization of fresh elections by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
Furthermore, outgoing local government chairmen have been instructed to formally hand over their offices to the HLGAs by Monday, March 3, 2025.
