In a statement issued on Saturday, a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted, The Islamic Republic of Iran has an undeniable duty to defend its territory and protect its citizens from any form of external aggression. The statement emphasized Iran’s right to respond to threats and defend its national security.

Despite the strong rhetoric, sources close to the Iranian leadership have indicated that Tehran is not planning an immediate retaliatory strike.
