Yahya Sinwar, the commander of Hamas in Gaza, may have been murdered during recent Israeli military operations, according to preliminary reports, prompting human rights activist and lawyer Dele Farotimi to offer a serious warning.Reacting Dele Farotimi said “When you kill a man who lived a life defined by his ideology, you make a martyr of him, and you assure the perpetuation of his beliefs. While Yahya Sinwar’s death is a huge blow for Hamas, it does not signal the immediate demise of the group. Hamas has vowed to continue fighting, saying that the killing of leaders including Sinwar, does not mean the end of their movement.

According to CNN, It is unclear whether Sinwar himself left any instructions on who should replace him, but his younger brother Mohammed Sinwar is seen by many as his heir apparent.
