Former Senator Shehu Sani discussed the selective nature of protest participation in northern Nigeria in a recent TVC film, condemning the area’s unwillingness to hold certain officials accountable. Sani also highlighted the northern region’s non-involvement in the National Assembly (NAS) protest. “During the NAS protest, the north refused to participate,” he stated, indicating a pattern of selective activism based on political allegiances.

Reflecting on the historic June 12 struggle in 1993, Sani noted, “Even during the June 12 struggle in 1993, we were the ones who brought the protest to the north but got only a few people that participated.” The June 12 protests, which centered around the annulled.

 

 

According to him, “During the time of Buhari, there was a protest led even in Abuja by Charlie Boy when Buhari stayed for over 100 days abroad. The north refused to participate. During the NAS protest, the north refused to participate. Even during the June 12 struggle in 1993, we were the ones who brought the protest to the north but got only a few people that participated.
