Shehu Sani said. “The First Time In History A Work Minister Can Sack Giant Company Like Julius Berger”

The government’s recent decision to cancel the N740 billion contract for the postponed Kaduna-Abuja road project has been hailed by former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani as a historic step toward accountability in public contracting.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In a statement shared on social media, Sani commended the Minister of Works for taking decisive action against Julius Berger, the company responsible for the road project.

He described the revocation as a significant step in addressing long-standing issues of inefficiency and corruption in the execution of major infrastructure projects in Nigeria.

The Kaduna-Abuja road project, initially awarded in 2018 at N155 billion, has been plagued by delays and escalating costs. The contract value has skyrocketed to N740 billion, yet progress on the ground has been minimal.

This disparity between financial investment and project completion has sparked widespread concern about mismanagement and lack of oversight. Despite these concerns, the project continued to face little scrutiny until now.

Sani pointed out that the revocation is a landmark decision, emphasizing that it is the first time a Nigerian Works Minister has taken action against a powerful contractor like Julius Berger.

The decision, he argued, was long overdue given the six-year delay and the excessive resources that had been squandered.

Sani believes the cancellation sends a strong message about the need for greater transparency and responsibility in handling public funds, especially in large-scale infrastructure projects.

The former senator described the move as a victory for accountability and urged the government to continue pursuing such reforms to ensure that taxpayers’ money is spent effectively.

The revocation of the N740 billion contract, Sani said, marks a turning point in Nigeria’s efforts to improve governance, restore public trust, and combat inefficiency in public works.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’s communications director, Jamal Simmons, has urged President Joe Biden to resign so that Harris can become the country’s first female president. Simmons commended Biden for his administration during a conversation on CNN’s State of the Union, pointing out that he had kept a lot of his pledges. He maintained, nonetheless, that there was still one final pledge to serve as a transitional figure.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

According to Vanguard, Simmons suggested that Biden resign within the next 30 days, enabling Harris to ascend to the presidency.

Furthermore, Simmons believes it would pave the way for future women candidates to run without bearing the heavy weight of being the first woman president.

When questioned about Harris’ potential nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, Simmons reiterated his support for her to serve as president.

He argued that Biden has the power to fulfill this “last promise” and would make history by making Harris the 47th president of the United States.

The call comes amidst the aftermath of the recent U.S. presidential election, where Donald Trump defeated Harris, securing key swing states. Trump is set to be inaugurated as president in January 2025.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

According to Monday Okpebholo: Obaseki Has Escaped, Chased Everyone Out of Edo Government House, and Is on the Run

Sahara Reporters reports that Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo State, has expressed alarm about the whereabouts of departing Governor Godwin Obaseki, asserting that Obaseki left Nigeria a few days prior to the official end of his term. Okpebholo claimed in a statement issued on Sunday, which was signed by his media assistant Godspower Inegbe, that Obaseki fled Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Friday in order to evade detection by taking a bus. Okpebholo claims that Obaseki may have been afraid of public attention because he chose to take a disguised bus rather than go to the airport.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Obaseki’s departure comes days before Okpebholo is set to assume office on Tuesday, after which Obaseki will lose immunity from prosecution. Last week, Obaseki expressed concerns that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was planning to detain him once his term concludes.

In the statement, Okpebholo accused Obaseki of abandoning his responsibilities and vacating the Edo State Government House before his official handover. “As of Friday, 8th of November, the whereabouts of Obaseki are unknown. He has chased everyone out of Edo State Government House. He has abandoned governance in the State, and he is on the run,” the statement read.

The governor-elect further alleged that Obaseki dismissed government staff before his departure. “He has escaped through the road out of Benin. He did not pass through the airport. If he is as popular as he claims, why did he not use the airport to escape? Instead, he hired a bus and disguised while escaping from Edo State,” Okpebholo stated, adding that these actions showed a lack of accountability and transparency.

Okpebholo also condemned Obaseki’s claims about the election process, asserting that the tribunal will validate his electoral victory. “Obaseki is still licking his wounds and refusing to accept reality,” Okpebholo said, warning that if Obaseki continues to make “baseless claims,” he will be legally accountable once his immunity ends.

“Obaseki will soon lose his immunity. If he continues with these baseless claims, he will face the law and be required to prove his allegations in court,” Okpebholo warned.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
