Senior Lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba, Response To The Alleged Plan Of The FG To Take Over Dangote Refinery

 

In response to the claim that the Nigerian government is purportedly considering taking over the Dangote refinery, human rights attorney Mr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, of Nigeria, has responded. He went on and stated it clearly that the proposal for the Nigerian government to acquire Dangote’s refinery raises significant considerations, noting that it is disturbing that the federal government would seek to take over a privately constructed facility after years of neglecting its own refineries.

Mr Olisa Agbakoba made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Monday evening, while reacting to the report. He noted that he believes the nation can find a constructive solution to the issue surrounding the Dangote Refinery.

Mr Agbakoba went further and stated it clearly that instead of considering the takeover of Dangote refinery, the Nigerian government should repair and upgrade the country’s refineries. He made it known that by doing so, the government can create a more robust and self-sufficient infrastructure that will serve Nigerians.

In addition, he demanded to know the reason why Nigerian government will not be able to fix the country’s refineries over the years.
