Rivers:Arewa Group, Demanding The Review Of State PDP Congresses Will Be Suicidal For PDP

The call to review the PDP Congresses in the Rivers States has been met with significant criticism by Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence and the Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ogah Okpanachi, issued a joint statement cautioning against the possibility that the PDP’s reputation in Rivers State might be harmed by the assessment.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The youth group also criticized the PDP Board of Trustees, led by Senator Adolphus Wagbara, for allegedly supporting the faction of Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the Rivers PDP dispute.

According to the group, revisiting the congresses could have serious consequences. “The call by Gov. Bala Muhammed-led PDP Governors Forum demanding the review of the Rivers State PDP Congresses will be suicidal for the PDP in Rivers State.”

“We also condemn the controversial stands of the Sen. Adolphus Wagbara-led PDP Board of Trustees in the Rivers State Political Crisis,” they said. They added that it questions the integrity of the party’s internal processes. They emphasized that political success is driven by “integrity, capacity, service, goodwill, foresight, and articulate implementation of well-defined programs and plans to achieve set goals.”

They reminded the PDP Governors Forum that the National Working Committee (NWC) had scheduled congresses in April 2024, which were approved by the National Executive Council (NEC).In several states, these congresses were completed without issue, making the call for a review in Rivers State surprising and disappointing.

The group also condemned what it saw as bias in singling out Rivers State for a review, calling it a “compromise of the party’s internal processes” and an unfair attempt to favor Governor Fubara.

They stressed that in politics, there are always winners and losers, and the integrity of the party must be upheld to ensure its success in future elections.

Finally, they called on the PDP Governors Forum and Board of Trustees to mediate and encourage Governor Fubara to cooperate with the winners of the congresses to preserve the party’s integrity ahead of the 2027 elections.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
