Rivers State Crisis: Chidi Lylod says "We cannot step down, nobody can put me out of office"

In response to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s order for administrative heads to assume control of the local government areas in the state, Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area Chidi Lylod has reacted, after the ongoing political turmoil in the state.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Recall that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had in the early hours of today, ordered administrative heads to assume the offices of the Local Government Areas across the state, following the expiration of the 3-year tenure of the council chairmen.

Recall also that some youths in Rivers State had few hours ago, chased away former Pro-Wike council chairmen and also took control of the council headquarters following their tenure expiration.

And so Chidi Lylod in reaction to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s directive and the crisis in Rivers State, stated during an interview with TVCNEWSNG few minutes ago, that the supporters of minister Nyesom Wike have exercised restraint.

Chidi Lylod further stated that he feels sorry for governor Siminalayi Fubara because if the state goes up in flames, he will be held responsible, adding that what happened in Rivers State today will not repeat itself.

However, Chidi Lylod mentioned that they cannot step down from their offices, adding that he is on the side of the law.

“We cannot step down, we are creations of the law, nobody can put me out of office, I didn’t ask Rivers State House of Assembly to amend the law and extend my tenure and because the Court of Appeal has said we should maintain status quo, I’m on the side of the law,” he said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
