Former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose shared his thoughts on the latest ruling by the Supreme Court granting power to local governments. Fayose expressed his thoughts in an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics program. This decision is regarded as a significant step in the direction of encouraging local government and decentralizing authority. Fayose thinks that the bond between chairmen of local governments and governors would be firm regardless of this ruling.He maintained that governors are still very important to the local political system. He also discussed how this verdict will be used practically. He emphasized the difficulties local governments would have in achieving true autonomy.
