Rivers APC Remarks. 'Gov Fubara Will Be Held Accountable For Any Breakdown Of Law And Order In Rivers State'

The PDP and Governor Sim Fubara, according to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in River State, will be held accountable for any breakdown in law and order in the state. In order to arbitrate the conflict between the Governor, his predecessor Nyesom Wike, and the members of the state House of Assembly, the opposition party said that they had a duty to make sure the Governor complies with the President’s decree. The party cautioned against the use of threats by the governor as a means of resolving the conflict. They advocated for an approach centered on mutual understanding and political engagement with critical stakeholders in the state.

The party said in a statement reported by Daily Post, ”Gov Fubara and the PDP will be held accountable for any breakdown of law and order in Rivers state. We call on all lovers of peace, the Federal Government, the International community, and lovers of democracy to call the governor to order.

As a party, we should do everything legally possible to ensure compliance and obedience to his decision as exemplified by signing of the proclamation and its implementation. The buck stops at the Governor’s table and he must take responsibility for any breaches in the build-up to lasting peace and stability in our dear state. Threats alone will not solve the problem but understanding, cooperation and selflessness.”

The Rivers State Governor, Sir Sim Fubara had warned that he would surprise those who consider his honest decision to implement the Presidential peace pact as a sign of weakness. Fubara said he had been inundated with several comments in the media about the implementation of the peace initiative and had chosen to be silent out of maturity and wisdom. However, the governor set the officials straight that accepting President Tinubu’s resolution agreement was a political solution.

On the other hand, the Rivers State House of Assembly headed by Honourable Martins Amaewhule has threatened to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara after claiming that the governor did not heed the resolution made by the President.
