According to Tribune, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, the founder of the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, has criticized the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for allegedly using the name of Mercyland Deliverance Ministry to trick Nigerians into purchasing his miraculous soap and water. Prophet Ikuru called NAFDAC’s decision offensive, demeaning, disparaging, and completely unacceptable to the body of Christ in a press release issued in Lagos on Wednesday. According to him, if the DG fails to tender the apology, he will lead “a protest of men of God” against her across the 36 states.
His statement read in part:
“I’m not going to sit back and watch NAFDAC make a fool of the body of Christ. Prof. Adeyeye will have to apologize to the body of Christ or I will lead a protest of men of God against you across the 36 states of the federation because the attack on Mercyland Deliverance Ministry is an attack on all Christians in Nigeria. A prudent and judicious person will be very careful when handling religious matters.”
According to Ikuru, NAFDAC has been ineffective in its duty of regulation and control, alleging that there are fake products, drugs, harmful drinks and food everywhere in the country, occasioning untimely deaths in the country.
He stressed that NAFDAC does have the authority to regulate activities of clergymen and spiritual materials, noting that the agency is not a spiritual organization to play such a role.
“Who made NAFDAC god over spiritual materials and items, is NAFDAC a spiritual organization?” he queried.
NAFDAC said on Sunday, through its DG, Prof Adeyeye, that it has commenced investigations into the products sold to the public by Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, which claimed to have registered them with the agency.
The agency said it had sealed Globod Table Water factory for allegedly aiding and abetting the production of the affected “miracle” products.
Prof. Adeyeye categorically declared that none of the products advertised and sold by the church was registered with the agency as Prophet Fefeyin of Mercyland Deliverance Ministry claimed.
