Cole Palmer has been incredibly successful with penalties this season, converting all nine of his attempts, making him the first Chelsea player in the past decade to achieve such a feat.

His impeccable record has contributed significantly to Chelsea’s success, with 20 league goals to his name, putting him on par with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

In a post-match interview at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino didn’t mince words about his feelings regarding the incident. He told reporters, “The players, the staff, and the club are all aware that Cole Palmer is our designated penalty taker.

What transpired during the game was disappointing and unacceptable. It’s a shame and I am deeply upset about this situation.”

Pochettino also addressed the broader implications of such actions;

“We were discussing in the dressing room the image we project as a team. We cannot afford to send the wrong message, especially on such a big stage. I apologize to the fans and everyone who witnessed this, as it goes against our values and standards,” he added.

However, Pochettino made it clear that there would be consequences for any repeat of such behavior. “I will not tolerate this type of behavior again.

We need to understand that collective goals always supersede individual ambitions, especially in a young squad like ours. Any recurrence of this will result in strong disciplinary action. It’s a learning process, and we must grow from it,” he said. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
