Reinstated Edo State deputy governor Philip Shaibu has stated that he would have given up on his dream of becoming governor if his principal, Godwin Obaseki, had been fair and had treated him properly. Shaibu described Obaseki as a dictator who refused to listen to reason and wanted to impose his will on the party.

He claimed that he won the Edo State PDP governorship primary with 381 delegates, who were shut out of the venue, and that the court has ruled that the delegates he had were the authentic ones.

According to the Punch Newspaper, Shaibu has now defected to the APC and seeks to prove that internal democracy must be respected.

He stated that he wants to fix the state and make it better, but Obaseki wanted to behave like a military dictator.

Shaibu denied allegations that he went away with 22 official vehicles after his impeachment, stating that Obaseki only bought one official car for his convoy in seven and a half years.

He claimed that he never applied for his official entitlements and confined himself to his official salary, forfeiting many of his entitlements to avoid trouble or disagreement.

When asked if he could forgive Obaseki, Shaibu hesitated before nodding, stating that he gave everything to have Obaseki succeed and didn’t want any trouble or disagreement.

He emphasized that he is not a desperate person and his ambition is not inordinate, but rather to fix the state and make it better.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
