According to a report by Channels TV, the Supreme Court’s verdict resulted in the removal of all local government chairmen in Rivers State and instructed the CBN to withhold financial disbursements to the state government.

Reacting to the development, Peter Obi strongly condemned the ruling, describing it as a reckless decision. He cautioned that such a judgment could jeopardize democracy and bring undue hardship to the people of Rivers State.

 

In his statement on X, he remarked:

“The actions of the three arms of government—the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary—are deeply troubling.
