Ned Nwoko, the senator for the Delta North senatorial district, has given an explanation for his choice to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to a report by Vanguard, Ned Nwoko stated on Monday that his decision was primarily driven by the need to gain the ruling party’s support for the creation of Anioma State.
He stated that key PDP leaders, including the governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and former governor Ifeanyi Okowa, have consistently opposed the formation of Anioma State.
He said efforts to secure backing from the PDP at the national level were unsuccessful due to internal conflicts that have weakened the party’s leadership.
Nwoko further revealed that he faced deliberate obstacles from the state government, which prevented him from effectively carrying out his responsibilities. He said projects that were discussed during the campaign were ultimately dismissed by the governor, citing financial constraints.
“I left because I want to be able to get the support of the ruling party (APC) in the creation of Anioma state. The governor (Sheriff Oborevwori) and Ifeanyi Okowa, who are the leaders of Peoples Democratic Party are against the creation of Anioma state. I sought the support of PDP National, but they’ve been embroiled in destructive fights and have been unable to show leadership,” he said.
“The governor (Sheriff Oborevwori) made sure that I wasn’t allowed to function. He dismissed all the projects that we had discussed during the campaigns, citing a lack of funds,” he added.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
