Amidst his call for economic nationalism, Omokri drew attention to global economic trends, citing the UK’s entry into recession, Japan’s recent economic downturn, and the precarious state of the Eurozone. He juxtaposed these events with the imperative for Nigerians to support domestic industries.

Critics of Omokri’s stance, however, pointed to the complexities of Nigeria’s economic landscape, arguing that systemic issues such as infrastructure deficiencies, policy inconsistencies, and corruption also contribute to currency devaluation.
