Okupe: Bello Adebay, Obi did not betray Atiku because he did not compete against him within the PDP

Punch reports that Dr. Doyin Okupe recently charged Peter Obi with betraying PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar. Okupe said, “Obi’s ambition led him to abandon Atiku, who had played a crucial role in his political rise.” He made it clear that his choice to stop supporting Obi was not betraying his principles by stating, “My political destiny should not be tied to Obi’s ambitions.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Drawing on his political experience since 1978, Okupe contrasted his background with Obi’s more recent entry into politics. He asserted, “I have been in this game for decades; my goals and motivations are distinct from Obi’s.”

Okupe revealed that his support for Obi was influenced by Pa Ayo Adebanjo, a leader in Afenifere. He explained, “Adebanjo advocated for a southern candidate, and I agreed with his perspective on the need for South-East representation.”

In response, Bello Adebayo, the Labour Party Chairman in Osun State, defended Obi, stating, “Obi did not betray Atiku because he did not compete against him within the PDP.”

These discussions highlight the complexities of loyalty and ambition in Nigeria’s political landscape, with Okupe and Obi at the center of ongoing debates.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
