Okonjo Iweala responds to a tweet claiming that she assisted Simon Ekpa in obtaining a $57.5 billion World Bank loan for Biafra.

 

In response to a widely shared post on X (previously Twitter), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the current Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and a well-known economist from Nigeria, said she helped Simon Ekpa obtain a $57.5 billion loan from the World Bank and IMF to enable the establishment of Biafra.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In a post on her X account, Iweala expressed disappointment over the misinformation and reassured the public that the claims were completely untrue. Okonjo-Iweala emphasized that in today’s challenging times, it’s important for people to recognize and reject such false information. She also urged those spreading the lies to stop using her name in this manner. Her response was aimed at making sure that no one would be misled by such outrageous statements.

In her response to the fake post, she said “I know no sensible person will believe what is contained in the outrageous tweet below but in these troubled times it is important to underscore that the statement is false.
