Ohaneze Ndigbo: Rivers Chapter, If Our Demands Are Not Met, We Might Distance Ourselves From Them

 

Recently, the Rivers State Chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo, a sociocultural organization entrusted with defending the rights of Southeasters, threatened to disband the group if their demands were not fulfilled. They noted in their remarks, which attracted a lot of public attention, that they might turn away from them if they are not permitted to take the initiative.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Ohaneze Ndigbo, the socio cultural group responsible for protecting the interests of the people of the South East particularly referred to as Ndigbo recently faced internal crisis as the Rivers State Chapter threatened to exit the group. This came after the leadership tussle reached new heights as the group searched for a new leader after the demise of it’s former president general, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

In a recent statement which was made available to the general public by news outlet, VANGUARD, the Rivers State chapter made it known that if their demands were not met, they might likely exit the group. The statement was made during a press conference in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital ahead of the Ohaneze Ndigbo elections.

According to the Vice President of the Rivers State chapter, Okere Azubuike, they will distance themselves from the election and whoever emerged as president if they are not allowed to take the lead.

‘In his words’

“If our demands are not met, it might be difficult for us to unify the Igbos of Rivers State with the South-East brothers.

“So, if after going through our press conference today, they refuse to yield to our demands, we may likely distance ourselves from the election and whoever they force on us, because centrally, our demand is that they should allow Rivers people to decide who takes the lead in Ohaneze Ndigbo.” He said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
