The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has made it clear that the Canadian-born Nigerian woman who recently advocated for the mass execution of Yoruba and Benin citizens is not of Igbo ancestry. In a now-viral video, the woman—Amaka Sunnberger—threatened to poison any Yoruba or Benin person she came into contact with at work. “Capture me on video; let’s begin poisoning the Yoruba and the Benin.” For work, put poison in every meal food. The woman spoke in Pidgin English, “Put poison for una water, make una dey kpai one by one.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

It seems she made the comment during a TikTok virtual meeting, where other participants could be heard chiming in and egging her on. The woman claimed her remarks were a reaction to the “hate” directed at the Igbo people.

“We Igbo need to toughen up. You all are too quiet,” she said, addressing the others. “Enough is enough! If you have any way to eliminate them, do it and clear them off the road.”

However, Abike Dabiri, the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, revealed on Wednesday that a group of Nigerians in Canada is reporting the woman to the Canadian authorities.

According to PREMIUM TIMES, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated that there is insufficient evidence to confirm that the woman is Igbo, adding that her behaviour does not reflect the Igbo traits of thoughtfulness, discretion, self-restraint, and calmness.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Enugu, Ohanaeze spokesperson Alex Ogbonnia described the woman as a “miscreant.” He also mentioned that the group has received calls from prominent Nigerians who are concerned that some individuals might act on these threats.

“It has become essential for Ohanaeze to respond, especially after the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr Jare Ajayi, sent us the video and urged us to take immediate action.

“No Igbo man or woman would ever consider throwing a stone in a crowded market, fearing who might get hurt, as the Igbo are known to travel more than any other ethnic group in Africa.

“Wherever they go, they make it a home away from home. They integrate with the local community and contribute to the development of every place they settle in.”

“Given this, two key questions arise: if someone were to poison food in Lagos, Ibadan, or Benin, is there any guarantee that the first victim wouldn’t be Igbo?” Mr Ogbonnia asked.

The Ohanaeze spokesperson described the woman in the video as a “depressed, drowning ethnic bigot, fixated on the negative side of history, and driven by a satanic agenda.”

He further revealed that Okey Emuchay, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly condemned the video. According to Mr Ogbonnia, Mr Emuchay denounced both the content of the video and its creator, labelling her a mischief-maker.

“These are the merchants of misery, using vile and inflammatory rhetoric to sow ethnic mistrust and conflict where none exists,” he added.

“Ohanaeze takes this opportunity to remind the younger generation that the Igbo, Edo, and Yoruba have much in common. We share cultural affinities, cosmology, language, and a tradition of hospitality.

“The long history of intermarriage among the Igbo, Yoruba, and Edo has produced many accomplished descendants,” he said.

He reassured Afenifere, as well as the entire Yoruba and Edo communities, that the threats made by this disturbed individual should be dismissed as “idiotic, meaningless, and empty.”

“Throughout history, the schemes of the maladjusted have always failed from the start,” he added.

He also called on Nigerian security agencies to identify and bring those responsible for this disturbing behaviour to justice.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
