The Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, has urged children and youths to abandon such ideas in light of secondary school pupils in Delta State labeling education a swindle, according to the Nigerian Tribune. Ogiame Atuwatse III delivered his remarks at the inaugural edition of a one-day seminar titled “The Future of the Warri Child,” organized by the CORA Care Foundation at the Brown Hill Centre, Ogunu, Warri.

Represented by Chief Wilson Edun Olley, the Aboludero of Warri Kingdom, the Olu emphasized that nothing is comparable to education.

“Don’t let anyone tell you education is a scam. Education is never a scam,” he reiterated. Sharing his personal story, he highlighted how education enabled him to become an engineer and the first to build a duplex in his village, underscoring the transformative power of learning.

The seminar aimed to inspire and motivate students to value their education amid prevalent negative sentiments.

Ogiame Atuwatse III encouraged participants to strive for excellence and take advantage of educational opportunities.

In addition to his message, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III announced the launch of the Atuwatse III Annual Inter-Collegiate Quiz/Debate Competition, set to commence in January 2025.

This initiative aims to promote intellectual engagement and foster a culture of learning among students in the region.

The event gathered educators, students, and community leaders, all united in the belief that education is the key to personal and communal development.
