During his media chat on Sunday as shown in a video made available by News Central TV, Wike stated that Bala Mohammed’s criticisms of the tax reform bills introduced by President Bola Tinubu are driven by his own political ambitions.

It was noted that when the tax reform bills were introduced, Bala Mohammed, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, argued that the reforms favored only one region of the country. He criticized the policy, stating that it would be detrimental to northern Nigeria, as it would not provide them with enough revenue to pay salaries.

Wike further questioned the authenticity of the opposition, particularly within the PDP. He pointed out that while Bala Mohammed vocally opposed the tax reforms, his criticisms were not genuine. Wike noted that Bala Mohammed’s actions were motivated by a desire to position himself for the PDP’s 2027 ticket, rather than a genuine concern about the tax policies.

He said, “The opposition, are they really in opposition? Look at the PDP, you see Bala Mohammed shouting, is Bala doing opposition? He is not, he knows he is not. Bala is merely saying, ‘look, you know I was the one who was criticizing Tinubu’s tax [reform bills].’ He did not criticize anything. He wants to see how he can have the leverage to have ticket for PDP to run for election. Everybody knows that.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
