Nwaji "Ikpeazu encouraged me to buy the form; I lost that election after selling my property"

Nwaji stated that such behavior was morally unacceptable and advised against making commitments that cannot be kept. He noted that Ikpeazu’s openness led many to approach him with various requests, which eventually overwhelmed him and contributed to his failure.

Nwaji illustrated this with a personal example, recounting how Ikpeazu initially pledged to support his bid for the PDP’s ticket in the Ukwa East/Ukwa West House of Representatives seat. Encouraged by Ikpeazu’s assurances, Nwaji said that he invested by purchasing the required forms, only to have Ikpeazu backtrack under pressure close to the election. As a result, Nwaji said he lost the election despite selling his property in Port Harcourt to finance his campaign.

He said, “I give an example of a promise he made to let me have the party’s ticket for Ukwa East/Ukwa West House of Representatives seat. He encouraged me to buy the form, noting that he was the governor and would support me, but later bowed to pressure when the time came for the election. I lost that election after selling my property in Port Harcourt to finance the pursuit. Some bad politicians, would have cashed on the incident to quarrel with him, but I refused to cut our relationship.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
