Speaking during an interview with Punch, Asibi mentioned that after his wife was kidnapped, he went to church to pray with his spiritual leader, who assured him that everything would turn out fine. He said later that night, he received a call from an unknown number. He said when he answered, he first heard his wife’s voice, but soon, a man took over the conversation, demanding ₦24 million within 24 hours for her release.
Asibi disclosed that he told the kidnappers that as a child of God, he would not allow himself to be intimidated. He said he told the kidnapper that he would not pay the ransom and the kidnapper should keep his wife he wants to.
