Nigerians Reacts As University of Abuja Appoints Youngest Acting Vice Chancellor

The announcement was made by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, who will conclude his tenure on June 30, 2024, after five years in leadership.

Na’Allah stated that Maikudi’s appointment is in a temporary capacity, pending ratification by the Governing Council.

In her acceptance speech, Maikudi expressed her gratitude to the Senate members for their confidence and support.

Born on January 31, 1983, Maikudi attended Queens College, Lagos, and later earned her LLB from the University of Reading in 2004 and an LLM from the London School of Economics & Political Science in 2005.

She completed her PhD in International Law at the University of Abuja in 2015.

According to Punch, Maikudi joined the University of Abuja as a Lecturer II in 2008 and became a Professor in 2022.

She was the first female Deputy Dean of the university’s Faculty of Law in 2018 and later the pioneer Director of the University of Abuja International Centre in 2019.

Maikudi has participated in numerous national and international conferences and conducted extensive research on United Nations Law.
