According to Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, President Bola Tinubu has worsened and aggravated the pain of Nigerians rather than trying to ease their suffering.

Afenifere bemoaned the status of the country’s economy and claimed that since taking government last time, Tinubu has subjected Nigerians to previously unheard-of levels of extreme poverty.

They said that Nigerians are now in worse shape than they were before the Tinubu-led government took office. They expressed their stance in a statement released following their quarterly meeting, which was held on Tuesday in Isanya-Ogbo, Ogun State, and was chaired by the deputy leader, Oladipo Olaitan.

Afenifere stated that the current administration lacked vision and understanding in managing public monies, even while she insisted that the nation was enmeshed in widespread misery, hunger, insecurity, and vast unemployment. They also lamented the careless and inefficient way in which Tinubu’s administration uses tax dollars.

According to the press release, “Afenifere observed that the Nigerian people are deeply distressed by the persistent suffering, debilitating hunger, ceaseless instability in the nation, uncontrollably high inflation, significant joblessness, etc., all of which have put the people in a worse situation than they were in the beginning.

Afenifere also noted the government’s careless, unyielding, and apathetic attitude toward the long-term consequences of its lack of planning or direction in managing public funds. “Afenifere rued some of the Tinubu administration’s profligate predilection or inclination to waste resources, viz.

(a) The President will receive an Airbus A330 aircraft for $100 million, or N240 billion, plus an additional $50 million for retrofitting it.

(b) N950 million for each, towards the acquisition of a brand-new, armored Cadillac Escalade limousine SUVs that are appropriate for the President.

(c) N21 billion to renovate the Vice President’s new residence

(c) A N90 billion subsidy for pious travel

(e) N10 billion for upgrades to the Presidential Lodge in Lagos, along Ribadu Road, etc. The organization also called for the government to become acquainted with Section 39 of the Constitution, which safeguards press and expression freedom, and expressed disapproval of the current harassment of media professionals while they go about their work.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
