During a media interview with Arise TV on Thursday, the former Anambra governor urged President Tinubu to set aside 20% of his 2025 budget to travel all the 36 states in Nigeria, stressing that such a trip would help him to comprehend the country’s economic and security status.
He said, “Mr. President, out of the approximately 580 days you have been in office, it is reported that you have spent over 30%, or around 180 days, on more than 30 publicly recorded overseas trips. My appeal is that you dedicate at least 20% of 2025, roughly 72 days, to visit each of Nigeria’s 36 states for two days each. As President, such visits would give you the opportunity to better understand the dire economic and security situations across the country.”
Following Peter Obi’s appeal to the President, Nigerians reacted on social media, with many disagreeing with him. Some contended that visiting states and monitoring their well-being is the job of each state’s governor, not the President.
