Nigerian Reacts After Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma Says Nobody Can Accuse Him of Corruption

Senator Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, is reportedly saying that no one can accuse him of corruption while he was in public office, according to Channels Television. Uzodimma stressed the value of honesty among public officeholders during her speech at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024 in Abuja. The governor blamed the pervasive corruption in Nigeria on an unchecked desire for wealth and a lack of discipline. He also called on political leaders to emulate the leadership style of the late Michael Okpara, the Premier of Eastern Nigeria, to foster national development.

During his speech, Uzodimma announced that the rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, enhancing 24-hour electricity supply across the state.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Cross River State Governor Prince Bassey Otu, Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, and former First Lady Patience Jonathan.
