According to POLITICS NIGERIA, in a recent interview, Ajaero explained that he was interrogated about allegations of terrorism financing involving a British national, Andrew Wynne. During his time in detention at the DSS office in Abuja, he was questioned not only by DSS agents but also by police officers, who focused on his involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protests from August.

Ajaero’s detention sparked criticism from labor unions, human rights organizations, and civil society groups. The NLC condemned his arrest and issued an ultimatum to the DSS, demanding his release by midnight on Tuesday. The NLC warned that if Ajaero was not freed, they would mobilize their affiliates, state councils, and civil society partners to take action.

However, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced the release of its president, Joe Ajaero, through a post on its official X account (formerly Twitter) in the early hours of Tuesday.

“NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, released from DSS detention. The struggle continues, we can’t be silenced,” the tweet announcing his release.

Along with celebrating Ajaero’s freedom, the NLC also issued a communiqué on Monday, calling for the immediate reversal of the petrol price hike to N617 per litre. The National Administrative Council (NAC) also demanded the prompt implementation of the newly signed national minimum wage.

Beyond the communiqué, the NLC is pushing for the reversal of the recent nationwide electricity tariff increase.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
