Marvin Yobana, An Ikwerre Minister Wants To Remove An Ijaw Gov After Ikwerre Have Ruled For 16 Years

Former African delegate to the World Assembly of Youths Ambassador Marvin Yobana has voiced worries over the plans of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to remove Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara from office. He contended that the Ijaw people, who have just elected a governor after 16 years of Ikwerre control, would not favorably perceive Wike’s conduct as an Ikwerre person.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

He emphasized that Governor Fubara is actively working towards developing Rivers State, but his efforts are being hindered by political distractions. He further urges the President to intervene and call Wike to order. He noted that since Wike is awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court, he suggests that all parties should wait for the apex court’s ruling.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, “Let us not forget that Rivers State is a multiethnic state, and the governor is from the Ijaw extraction. An Ikwerre minister wants to remove an Ijaw governor after Ikwerre have ruled for 16 years with the cooperation of all other ethnic minorities in the state. So, I don’t see this as something that will sit well with the Ijaw extraction in Rivers State people.

The governor is very busy in trying to ensure that development goes ahead in Rivers State, but he’s been distracted with all this political drama. And the governor did say in his last television appearance that there is no price he cannot pay for peace in the state, because this crisis is setting back the hands of development in Rivers State. So, this is what we should be looking at, and I call on Mr. President to call his minister to order, because we are tired of this distraction. He [Wike] says he’s waiting for the Supreme Court to speak; yes, let all of us wait for the Supreme Court to speak.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
