Shehu expressed his disbelief at the proposed reforms and mockly suggested that there was no need for the reforms, given the public’s lack of trust in the electoral system.
“No need. Just announce the premeditated winners of 2027 and 2031 elections, swear them in on Monday in advance. Let the aggrieved GO TO COURT,” Mahdi Shehu wrote.
His comment highlighted the ongoing concerns about the transparency and fairness of elections in Nigeria.
The INEC’s plan to present reforms comes at a time when many citizens are still questioning the credibility of the electoral process.
Over the years, there have been several allegations of election rigging, manipulation, and violence, leading to widespread distrust in the system.
Shehu’s statement also reflects the frustrations of many Nigerians who feel that the government is not doing enough to address these issues.
