Addressing the issue, Vatsa emphasized that the south-western region, represented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is slated to complete its two-term presidency, following which the south-eastern region should rightfully assume leadership. He underscored the importance of respecting the established rotation process, cautioning against disrupting it prematurely, which he believes could lead to chaos.
Vatsa further rebuked the group’s claims to represent the entire northern region, asserting that their influence is exaggerated and does not accurately reflect the diverse realities within the north. He highlighted the ongoing security challenges facing several northern states, including Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kaduna, emphasizing the need for unity and stability amidst such turmoil. In conclusion, he urged the group to focus on constructive engagement rather than divisive rhetoric, suggesting they prepare for the forthcoming changes in Nigeria’s political landscape.
According to The Sun News, He further cautioned them to speak for themselves and not the whole North adding that, “their threat that they have the number is an ever exaggeration of the true situation in the north today because I don’t know which North are they referring to.
“Is it the geographical North or the one that is already in disarray and being ravaged by bandits and insurgents. There are killings in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Kaduna and other places on a daily basis.
