Lauretta Onochie: If NLC Can't back police to probe Ajaero, BAT should stand on 'no work, no salary'

All Progressive Congress (APC) leader Lauretta Onochie has reacted to recent moves made by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) about the possible arrest of Comrade Joe Ajaero, the organization’s president. According to reports from VANGUARD, the NLC’s decision came after the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) summoned Ajaero for questioning. The allegations against him include serious charges such as terrorism financing and treasonable felony, which have raised concerns about national security.

In a post on her official X handle, Onochie expressed her views on the matter, criticizing the NLC’s stance. She argued that if the NLC cannot support the police in investigating a crime that touches on national security, then there needs to be a firmer response from the government.

Onochie specifically addressed President Bola Tinubu, urging him to enforce the “No Work, No Pay” ruling of the National Industrial Court if the NLC continues to obstruct the investigation. She emphasized that the government should not tolerate actions that undermine the rule of law, particularly in matters of national importance.

He said, “Dear Mr. President, Bola Tinubu, If NLC cannot back the police to investigate a crime bothering on national security, involving their Ajaero, you need to stand on the ruling of the National Industrial Court which supports “No Work, No Pay”.
