The late MKO Abiola’s son, Abdul Abiola, has talked about the day his mother, Kudirat Abiola, was murdered in Lagos. He declared that he preferred to stay with her rather than attend school. Additionally, he expressed his hope that he could have been in the car with his mother since he believed that the assassins might not have carried out the attack if they had noticed a child with her.

In Abdul’s words: “I wish I was in the car with her, maybe if the assassins had seen a baby in the car they might not have killed her. God knows what could have happened but I wasn’t able to because I was not really the most studious student. I knew my dad had money so I used to tell my teachers to stop disturbing me and teach the other students. My mom knew that and she wanted me to understand that education was very important. So me saying I did not want to go to school that day, she just assumed that I didn’t like school and she forced me to go.
