Kano APC Chairman: “FG Was Committed To Reducing Hunger In Nigeria, But NNPP Was Frustrating The Efforts”

Kano State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken issue with Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the head of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), over his criticism of the federal government’s palliative distribution method. As stated by the Daily Post, President Bola Tinubu’s displeasure with the state’s prior exercise led to the new strategy, which was revealed by APC Chairman in Kano Abdullahi Abbas.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Responding to Kwankwaso’s comments on his Twitter account, Abbas stated that “the federal government was committed to reducing hunger in the country, but the NNPP was frustrating the efforts.”

He pointed out that although President Tinubu had approved palliatives for vulnerable citizens, some individuals responsible for distribution were diverting the resources.

Abbas highlighted several corruption cases involving NNPP officials, noting that “the scandalous escapades that enmeshed senior officials of the NNPP government brought to fore how the palliatives could not reach the targeted poor and vulnerable.”

He mentioned Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir, Managing Director of Kano’s Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), who was allegedly involved in the unauthorized sale of state-owned grains.

Similarly, a Senior Special Assistant, Tasi’u Al’Amin Roba, was reportedly arrested for diverting palliatives, allegedly working on behalf of the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Dr. Baffa Bichi.

Abbas called on Kwankwaso to instruct his “anointed governor to launch an investigation into these acts of irresponsibility,” ensuring that those responsible are held accountable and prosecuted.

He also criticized the Annual Ramadan Feeding Programme for providing poor-quality meals, stating that even Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf admitted he had “lost confidence in people he entrusted with responsibilities.”

Addressing Kwankwaso’s claim that the palliative distribution was controlled by the APC, Abbas clarified that the federal government’s committee was “under the leadership of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barque Jibrin, with membership from the APC, NNPP, PDP, IPAC, and other representatives.”

He emphasized that the committee worked to ensure that “the beneficiaries are truly the most needy members of the public” and noted that security decisions, including the posting of DSS directors, were part of President Tinubu’s effort to maintain peace in Kano. Abbas concluded by accusing the NNPP government of encouraging youth violence during the 2023 elections.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
