In an interview with Arise TV, Yusuf emphasized the concerning abduction rate, pointing out that in a span of 10 days, over 700 individuals were taken hostage, comprising 287 pupils in Kaduna and Sokoto and 400 in Borno. Yusuf emphasized that the recent events exceeded even the tragic Chibok kidnapping when he compared the current state of affairs to that event.

Professor Yusuf also described how armed terrorists invaded the village of Kuriga in Kaduna, seizing 287 children from a school assembly in broad daylight.

In Yusuf’s words: “It has never happened in this country that within 10 days up to 700 people were abducted: 400 in Borno, 287 students primary and secondary students as young as 8 and as old as 12, and then the Islamiya students in Sokoto. It has never happened, over 700 people were abducted within the week

“In Chibok, Boko Haram abducted 276 but here in Kaduna, Kuriga they abducted 287 in broad daylight. After they had assembled, these terrorists came into the village on motorcycles and surrounded the school, and took the children.
