Effiong argues that President Tinubu has worsened the country’s economic challenges by starting his tenure with the appointment of about 49 ministers, a move he deems excessive given the current economic climate. “He came in and started by appointing an embarrassing cabinet of about 49 ministers,” Effiong remarked, highlighting his concerns about the leadership’s decision-making.

Effiong further criticised Tinubu’s governance, stating, “Because he himself knows that he is governing the country badly, in fact, terribly. I would not be surprised if you conduct a census in the president’s family; 90% will agree that he has misgoverned the country.” This sentiment reflects widespread disillusionment with the administration’s ability to address the pressing issues of hunger and inflation.

He also pointed out the high expectations that were placed on Tinubu before he assumed office. “We have a situation where we were told that here is a master strategist, a man who had said it was his turn, a man who had told Nigerians that he was going to hit the ground running, a man who had made promises that immediately upon assuming office,” Effiong noted, expressing disappointment in the President’s performance thus far.

Moreover, Effiong criticised the calibre of individuals appointed to the cabinet, stating that they are neither inspiring nor charismatic. He believes that such appointments, unprecedented in the history of Nigeria, are particularly ill-timed given the economic difficulties facing the nation. “He did this knowing the economic situation of the country, and the individuals he appointed were not people that are very inspiring or charismatic,” Effiong added.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
