In Kaduna, bandits murder a ransom negotiator after he gives them motorcycles and N16 million.

Punch reports that in Jere town, Kaduna State, armed bandits shot and killed a 27-year-old guy known only as Abba. The man had offered them three motorcycles and N16 million in exchange for the release of nine local kidnap victims.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

This was disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a post via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday. The bandits had abducted 9 persons from the town place on April 16, 2024, when they attacked homes in Unguwar Iya. The later demanded N30 million ransom for their Victim’s release.

A resident, identified as Shuaibu Hussaini, confirmed the killing in a telephone interview on Wednesday.

Hussaini said the incident occurred last Saturday when Abba, who had been negotiating with the bandits on behalf of the village, went to deliver the ransom that both sides had settled for to terrorist’s leader at a designated location in the area.

However, after collecting the ransom, the bandits’ leader reportedly tied up the deceased and opened fire on him.

According to one of the abductees who was released by the bandits, the bandits’ leader said they decided to kill Abba for being rude to him during negotiation of the ransom.

When Abba’s family contacted the bandits’ leader to inquire about the Abba’s whereabouts after he failed to return home, he callously informed the family about what they did to Abba.

Hussaini said:

“It was when one of the family members of the victims tried to find out the whereabouts of Abba after delivering the ransom that the bandits’ leader asked the family to go to a particular location and pick up his corpse.”
