In the most recent Kaduna State governorship elections, Asake ran as a candidate for the Labour Party (LP). He stressed that the current administration, headed by Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) National Party Leader, should not take the credit for mishandling the country’s affairs. He emphasized that in order to reduce poverty in the North, local governments there must use federal funding wisely.
Responding to inquiries about the ongoing blame game between the current and previous administrations, Asake acknowledged that such scapegoating is inevitable as long as systemic dysfunction persists. He stressed the interconnectedness of the current and past administrations, noting that President Buhari, as a prominent figure within the APC during the preceding government, bears responsibility for any shortcomings. Asake argued that if President Buhari remained silent or benefited from wrongdoing during his tenure, he forfeits the right to lament present challenges.
He said: “If this present administration is blaming the last one; they were part and parcel of the same administration. In fact, the current president was referred as the leader of the party in the last administration and that was government of Nigeria then under APC.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
