Punch reported that Uduma was fired after a widely shared video she took in October showed another officer, Sergeant Abraham, at the police station in the South Ibie neighborhood of Edo State. The officer could be seen in a compromising position with a 17-year-old girl.

The officer was observed quickly putting on his pants and asking Edith why she was filming the video. During this time, the girl was observed in the room, lying on a chair.

After an orderly room trial, both officers were later fired, according to information obtained from the police.

Moses Yamu, the public relations officer for the Edo State Police Command, claimed in a statement issued in November that Uduma and her husband, Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed, plotted to extort N1 million from Abraham in order to conceal the incident. The police said the video was leaked online after Abraham allegedly offered N45,000 instead.

When speaking with Punch, Uduma refuted the accusations, claiming she was not given a fair trial and that she had never extorted money. She claimed that the reason she was fired was because she did not have any powerful connections.

Uduma said she would commit suicide if she did not receive justice. “What the Edo Command is saying is not what happened. They know I have no rank or support to fight back. I want justice. My dismissal is unjust. He (my husband) used to bring something for me to eat. He brought food that time to the station.”

“If Nigerians refuse to listen to me—because my husband has been in detention, and they have been looking for me to arrest me, to charge me to court—if Nigeria refuses to listen to me, I will just poison all my children and myself. I will die.”

“Because I’m just stranded like this,” she said, noting she had been in hiding and had not seen her children in a long time due to the incident.”

She claimed that after Sergeant Ibrahim allegedly vanished following the incident, the DPO at the station encouraged her to ask him for the N1 million for negotiation, that this was an attempt to entice the suspect to appear.

She claims that she is shocked by the way the DPO and other officers allegedly manipulated the situation against her.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
