Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara was quoted in a Vanguard article as saying that he invited the people to come and accept the post if it would help to promote more peace in Rivers State. Rivers State’s wellbeing is permanent, but Governor Sim Fubara made it clear that his position is only temporary. Even as the governor, he emphasized the need for moderation even in circumstances where the use of force could lead to catastrophes. Governor Sim Fubara said, “They were the ones I was worried about. What would be their fate? That was my trouble. It is not about me. If leaving this position is what I need or what is needed to bring more peace to this state, I can even tell the people to come and take it. It is not about me. People should understand that I’m definitely here; I will go, but Rivers State will still remain. I am the governor.
