According to statements made by Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, he is aware of efforts to detain some of his followers who oppose the 21 local government chairmen who have refused to resign from their positions after their terms have finished. In a video shared by Channels TV, Fubara defended his supporters and stated that they have done nothing wrong but stood for truth. He said the law clearly states that there is no provision for extending the tenure of local government chairmen. He urged those spreading contrary messages to stop doing so
