The strike, which was aimed at eliminating him, resulted in the deaths of at least four people and left 23 others injured, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
According to Jerusalem Post, the explosion caused significant damage to an eight-story building, and the blast was felt throughout the capital around 4 a.m.
Haydar has been linked to Hezbollah’s military operations beyond Lebanon, particularly in Syria, and has been involved in transferring weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The U.S. State Department has designated Haydar as a specially designated global terrorist and placed a $7 million bounty on his head.
This attack is the fourth Israeli airstrike this week in central Beirut, part of Israel’s ongoing offensive against Hezbollah.
The strikes have targeted Hezbollah strongholds, particularly in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Prior to the airstrike, Israel issued evacuation warnings to residents in specific neighborhoods, urging them to move away from Hezbollah facilities.
