HARDSHIP HIKE: Seun Kuti Tells Nigerians That Protest Is Not Enough

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, Nigerian artist and activist Seun Kuti made an appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin Minds. In an interview with Channels Television’s Rubbin Minds show, the musician revealed that he sees protest as “the beginning of the dance”.

“I will tell Nigerians that protesting is not enough. I see protests as a child moaning to a loving parent, ‘Oh, daddy, mummy, I don’t want to eat this,’ because the father and mother care.

But these people don’t care; that’s why I advocate mass organization, not just protest, because we, the people, must also organise ourselves to get power.

“It is not enough to protest because we disagree with what they do; we must also demonstrate that we are prepared to replace them.

“Not with another version of themselves, as we did before, from PDP to APC, but with new people, representatives from our side of the divide, to rule this country for our own benefit,” he said.

Kuti asked Nigerians to unite and struggle to free the country from the constraints of capitalism.

“People simply wanting to demonstrate is insufficient. Protest marks the beginning of this dance.”

“The true party begins when we begin to mass mobilize as socialists to liberate this country from the capitalism that we are seeing.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
