The executive Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki stated on his verified Twitter page on Thursday; “Today, while commissioning the Edo Built Environment Hub, I immortalised Nigeria’s first Surveyor-General of the Federation, Late Daniel Omoigui, by naming the state’s Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS) complex after this Edo legend.”

He added; “All government agencies operating within the built environment sector—including the Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Devt; EdoGIS; the Ministry of Roads and Bridges; and the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency—will be housed in this hub.”

The executive Governor of Edo State stated further; “For us in Edo, our land is premium—it is one of our most significant assets due to our locational advantage. Our land spans multiple terrains, from swamp to rainforest and savanna.”

He noted; “We have mineral resources and large reserves of gas, yet all of these need to be accurately mapped, as the unavailability of information renders these assets practically inert.”
