In a video that has gone viral, the Governor found himself in the spotlight for an unexpected reason as he couldn’t pronounce the budget figure during the presentation.
According to Vanguard, Okpebholo presented a estimated budget of N605 billion, during his address at the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
It was gathered that the governor, who was sworn in as governor in November after winning the October off-cycle election, presented the budget titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo.”
The 2025 fiscal plan marks a 25 percent increase from the 2024 budget, a significant rise aimed at advancing development across key sectors.
However, as the governor reached the portion of his speech to announce the budget total, he faltered, stuttering as he attempted to pronounce the figure.

Despite the brief hiccup, Okpebholo regained his composure and continued with the presentation.
Addressing the assembly, he outlined the allocation breakdown, noting that N223 billion, representing 37 percent of the budget, would go toward recurrent expenditure, while N381 billion, or 63 percent, was earmarked for capital projects.
He said the budget is the product of extensive consultations and reflects our administration’s commitment to achieving the five-point agenda of Security, Infrastructural Development, Healthcare, Food Sufficiency, and Education.
He further assured lawmakers and Edo residents that the proposed budget would lay a foundation for transformative development in the state.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the opposition parties in the State, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, claimed that the governorship election was rigged.
