Following Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s announcement of N85,000 as the minimum salary for Lagos state employees, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, the former Labour Party, LP candidate for governor of Lagos state, responded on his official X account on Thursday.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Reacting, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour said the decision of the governor to pay N85,000 to workers is a step in the right direction. He said however, the amount falls significantly short of addressing the unique cost-of-living and challenges faced by workers in Lagos state.

He said considering some of the factors in Lagos state, a minimum wage of at least N100,000 is necessary for Lagos workers to achieve parity with their counterparts in other states.

According to Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour;

“While the recent increase in the minimum wage to N85,000 is a step in the right direction, it’s important to note that this amount falls significantly short of addressing the unique cost-of-living challenges faced by Lagos workers. The city has the highest intra-city public transportation costs in Nigeria, particularly for motorcycle rides, a common mode of transport across several states in the country”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
