Following a deadly Israeli strike that targets an army near Tyre, Lebanon demands serious action.

The Lebanese military reported on Sunday that an Israeli attack on an army base in southern Lebanon had resulted in the death of at least one Lebanese soldier and the injuries of 18 others. The Israeli military has not commented on the incident. Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the strike, calling it a “direct and bloody message” against efforts to establish a ceasefire and reinforce the Lebanese army’s role in the south.

 

“This aggression is a matter for the international community, which remains silent about what is happening to Lebanon,” Mikati said.

The attack has reignited concerns about U.N. Resolution 1701, which was adopted in 2006 to end the month-long war between Israel and Hezbollah.

The resolution aimed to establish a ceasefire and create a buffer zone between the Litani River and the Israel-Lebanon border, promoting stability in the region.

Lebanon views the attack as a serious escalation, questioning Israel’s commitment to maintaining peace in the volatile border region. The international community has yet to respond to Lebanon’s call for action.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
